How to transfer heat without causing a short circuit ?

I know title seems too vague but I don’t know how to explain it in short terms. This problem bothers me in many projects and even though it sounds simple , I can’t figure out how to do it .Simple example :You want to heat something (It could be clothes iron etc. ) so idea is simple , heating element (coil , resistor , Kanthal wire , etc. ) and metal plate . So how do you transfer the heat from heating element to plate ?Also I want to be clear about something , I’m not asking this question without doing my own research. I tried many ways to make this work but all of them are failure (Heat resistant glue (red ones ) + CPU paste , kapton tape , epoxy ) via /r/DIY
