recessed halogen ceiling lights temperature?

My kitchen has recessed ceiling can lights that takes 12V/50W halogen MR16 bulbs. How hot does it get in the recessed can (behind the bulb)? One of the sockets that the bulbs plug into broke, so I replaced the socket by wiring in a new one using two wire twist caps. Is the plastic of the wire cap going to melt though? They’re rated for 105°C/221°F.A fire would be sad.Edit: We’re not using LEDs since they all flicker or buzz, despite trying many brands of LED bulbs. I think it’s because the AC/DC transformer isn’t rated for such low draw, and switching out the transformer is a much larger project than I have time for right now since that’d require cutting up the ceiling. via /r/DIY
