Looking for a way to thread 10mm plastic for a strong hold

Basically I’m trying to secure a pelican case to a plastic (“virtually indestructible nylon-6”) board like this for use on a motorcycle. I could just run the bolts through and hold them on with a nut but that’s more hassle than I’m after (basically fumbling with a nut between my rack and the fender every time). If I can insert threads into the plastic I could just insert/remove the bolts and be on my way. Riv-nuts don’t seem to work for something this thick, I’m wondering if tapping then inserting a heli-coil would work or if the answer is something I haven’t thought of. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/3rL3V5g
