How to use leftover, thin wood strips for a DIY trim

I’m trying to reuse some old wood scraps for trim along two small walls in a bathroom. I wanted to glue the strips together in their formation (see diagram below) to prevent bowing over time given how thin each strip is, but I lack the equipment to clamp such thin pieces. My wife had the idea that we could just glue the strips to the wall, but I’ve read that once we use construction adhesive on the drywall, that trim is there. So now we’re thinking to use a backing that we can fix to the wall with a nail gun (?) and then we can glue to the strips to the backing, and finish with a nail gun.We might be overthinking it, so I’m curious if any of you have ideas on how to achieve this.Pictures via /r/DIY
