Primer dilemma

So I had to replace a good amount of drywall in my basement along one wall. So about maybe half is the old wall and finish, and the other half is new drywall and plenty of compound. I know you shouldn’t really use pva primer on painted surfaces, but pva is best for new drywall. So does that mean I have to use two different primers? One for the new drywall, and one for the old? Or is there a decent primer that can kill two birds with one stone? via /r/DIY
