Advice on fixing this gouge on my kayak. 3M marine premium filler or West System’s 105-K kit?
How should I go about fixing this gouge? It is roughly 6" long and no more than 1/8" deep. The gouge does not go through the hull of the kayak.
I've searched online for fiberglass crack/hole repair methods, and it seems there are two routes that I can take. The first one is filling the crack or hole with a filler substrate and people seem to recommend the 3M marine premium filler, but I am not sure if this will be strong enough for my application?
The second option is to first widen the gouge further and then repair the area with fiberglass sheets and resin. There are kits available like the West System’s 105-K kit, but I am not sure if this is overkill for a gouge like this.
Does anyone here have any experience with this kind of fiberglass repair and what would be the recommended course of action? Thanks in advance!
