Ripped up carpet down to concrete subfloor that appears unfinished, then COVID happened and never put anything down.

So, ripped out the nasty old carpeting with intention of putting down something that week. Well, that obviously never happened. Then, we were going to paint it but have someone living with us with COPD and wouldn’t be able to handle the fumes.

So, finally putting something down but having issues in two spots in two rooms: where the computer/computer chairs were. By and large, the floor is mostly fine but in the bedrooms we have this issue:

the floor

So, applied some Planipatch with the intention of putting down some temporary self adhesive vinyl and carpet tile until we actually re-do everything towards the end of the year. But, the Planipatch cracked (waited two days before attempting to place the tile) and when lifting up part of a tile that was misaligned, it took up a gigantic chunk – there’s just too much dust and no amount of vacuuming fixes it.

Just need some kind of temporary solution so we can put down the tile that can get us by until November-ish, but unsure what that is. Very tempted to just lay down some thin rubber with staples and tile over that – but read that was bad.
