An interesting use for waste PCB etchant
I'm thinking of doing some home PCB etching and, as I'm sure you know, the Ferric Chloride solution contains some copper and so disposal is tricky. Copper containing paints look very pretty and I was looking into converting the waste etchant solution into some form of green paint to use on the outside of my projects. In theory this simply involves adding sodium bicarbonate to the solution and precipitating the solid that's formed (which will be a mixture of Iron and Copper Chloride but these can be separated later).
For an idea so simple I can't find a record of anyone who's tried this so far which is concerning. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing or can anyone see any potential problems?
Quick edit: I have a chemistry degree so if the only problem is complicated chemical reactions that doesn't bother me too much
