DIY a kitchen sink drain pipe?

Recently I had new kitchen cabinets installed. The PVC pipes for the drain were glued together so the guys working on it had to cut the pipes in order to remove them.

Would reinstalling a drain pipe (and remounting the garbage disposal) be a reasonable DIY effort for someone who doesn't normally do that kind of thing? I called a plumber and the estimate he gave me was around 400$ and if I can avoid spending that much money I'd like to.
