Can I use a wood moisture meter on concrete? (for indicative purposes)
I'm investigating a potential leak in my house and a moisture meter would be very handy. The house is entirely concrete, with a few false ceilings (plasterboard/drywall), so a pin-type moisture meter to reach up into the false ceiling to touch the actual concrete substrate would be needed, as opposed to the pinless pad sensor type that wouldn't fit in the light fitting hole.
If it's only for indicative purposes, i.e. test a known dry spot for a reading then compare with suspect spots' readings, can I use a wood moisture meter? They're significantly cheaper than those labelled as a concrete moisture meter, from what I can see. I don't need exact moisture measurements, just a better understanding of the moisture content relative to known dry spots, as well as getting a rough idea of its progress drying out over time.
