Help with removing stump

I'm getting into the garden at my new house and am in the processing of digging it all up.

I've hit a snag though, this stump is so close to the wall that I think removing it might be dangerous and could cause the wall to collapse. It's an old wall, and as you can see from the photos, the pointing is pretty shot and bricks are cracked in several places.

Is this something that requires a professional? Maybe a supporting beam cemented into the ground before removing the stump?

Any help would be much appreciated!
