Mechanical self-braking wheels to prevent accidental runaway that depend on speed — do they exist, and/or could you build them for a kids’ wagon?
Howdy folks, I'm trying to add a safety feature to a wagon where braking resistance triggers automatically and increases with speed. The idea is to prevent accidental runaway. Ideally, the braking resistance would somehow scale with speed (probably nonlinearly) rather than just suddenly switching on 100%.
I feel like I've seen a purely mechanical (i.e. non electronic/computer based) design for this before on some kind of device, like on pulleys or elevators or in some other safety application, but I haven't had any luck finding anything on The Googles.
Can anyone think of an existing product (wheels, caster, etc.) or a design that would achieve this result?
