Can I use 2×6 insulation in between roof 2×4’s for better insulation? Uncompressed?

I am insulating my attic ruff in my shed, and it is all 2×4 joists. There is nothing else up there and I was going to lay down rockwool between the 2×4 joists followed by insulation barrier than some vgroove pine.

Since the 2×6 insulation would just be sitting, uncompressed, is there any benefit to using it or should I stick with the 2×4 insulation that sits perfectly between the joists? I know compressing it lowers its R-value, but i figured if it stays expanded what's the difference? Or does the encasing of the wood give it its proper insulating effects?

Thanks!

to clarify : 20×16, Wood stove heated. Canadian winters.
