Would it work to mix ant repellent into a batch of cement / concrete mix? Has anyone tried something like this?
Location: India, not USA!
Context: My parents have a brick and mortar house, and we have ants everywhere outside. We also have a good many ants inside. We're planning to patch up a few weathered areas with cement, including a few spots known for ant activity. We try to use borax and cypermethrin powder around the garden, but the effectiveness varies. It is also coming up on monsoon season which means that any powders / treatments we put down will be washed away pretty quick.
So, the idea occurred to me, and I hope someone has an answer: does anyone here know if cypermethrin or boric acid powder (or other insect-killing/repelling chemical) can be added into a cement mix without unwanted side effects?
When searching online, all I find is articles about treating surfaces after the fact, nothing about mixing in insect repellents directly into the concrete.
This is just an idea, mind you, so I don't intend to actually do this unless there's a good chance it could work.
