What weather resistant material can mount on a fence to create a smooth surface?
I always feel that if you can't find an example of your DIY idea online, it's probably because it's a bad one… but I'm determined to create it.
I have a fenced garden, but I'd really like a tiled wall in one section, covering halfway along a fence panel.
As the fence has a traditional feather edge structure (which can't be changed) I need to mount a smooth, weather resistant surface to stick the tiles on to.
I was thinking of a rubber anti fatigue mat or maybe a sheet of acrylic though it's a bit pricey for such a make shift project. A trellis is my favourite option as the sizing is already consistent with typical fences but I'm nervous the wood will warp over time.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a material that can tolerate all weather conditions (UK – south facing) but also won't put too much weight on the fence. The fence panel itself is held between concrete posts.
(To keep weight down I'm considering just using small acrylic squares with vinyl transfers for the tiles.)
