Painting via /r/DIY

So I'm doing up a room for my son. The room itself has paint from around 10 years ago and is cracking all over the place so I'm stripping it off to give it a fresh undercoat and colour.

No lead or anything nasty to worry about.

My questions really were – is there a faster way than just using a scraper and muscle?

Once stripped, I notice some scratches (not deep really at all) and wondered if the undercoat would be sufficient enough to fill these? – what the cracking looks like – the scratches I mentioned

Sorry, decorating my daughters room was a breeze, but this cracked paint is quite the workout to get off
