How much of a crook in a pressure treated 2×4 to be used as a deck rail is “acceptable”?
I think I have the terminology right using crook: like a bow except along the length of the edge as oppose to face.
I’m starting to build the railing by screwing the spindle holders (can’t remember exact name of these haha) to the edge of the 2×4 for my deck and notice a few have a bit of a crook. I know completely straight is ideal but will it still work with a slight crook? Would clamping it to a straight piece while attacking it to the posts make any difference?
Upon googling I found results for fixing or working with various deck components with warped wood but nothing specifically about warped rail lumber. Any advice and tips would be appreciated!
