Cost of installing a window where one was previously removed?

My house is a 1920s bungalow with one very small bathroom. It would be way more palatable if it had a window, and it used to, but sometime between 1924 and now it was removed. I believe it was removed recently because the patch job on the outside is visible and the new siding that was put up looks brand new. A few questions:

  1. Is it likely that the actual window is still framed out underneath the siding or would that be removed when they patched it?

  2. Is there a cost range for a window install? My husband works for a builder and flips houses so we would do it ourselves, but I’m wondering if anyone has done this before and approximately what you spent.
