Removing/Sanding/Polishing the threads off of glass bottles
Hi there. I was just wondering if it's possible to polish the threads off of a screw top glass bottle to a clear finish like the threads had never been there (or at least give off that impression from a short distance).
I just thought I'd ask here since I haven't been able to find anything online about doing something like this, and I'd rather not ruin a perfectly functional screw top bottle if it's gonna be ugly.
The reason I ask is because I would like to use a cork in some have some empty Kraken rum bottles lying around without the screw top making it look silly.
I was thinking of going the knife sharpening route and just removing as much material as I could with rough sandpaper, then going finer and finer to attempt to polish the neck clear. I also saw some glass filler on Amazon, but that is probably not food safe like I want it to be.
If anyone has some insight for or experience with working with glass without access to glassmaking equipment, I'd very much appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!
