I’m never able to tell what type of gloss level to use on projects. So much so that I’ve just stuck to staining my woodworking jobs.

I’m moving into a new house with (in my opinion) ugly painted cabinets in the kitchen.

I know my first DIYs in this house will be painting, but for the life of me I’ve never been able to pin down which level of gloss to get.

Matte is nice, I like how it feels and looks, but it isn’t durable right? It isn’t appropriate for tough used surfaces?

High gloss seems durable, but it’s so… glossy! And thick.. why does it ALWAYS feel tacky?

I think it would just help me figure out what I should/would like to do.. if others included what they picked and why sometimes..
