Lowering my desk’s keyboard tray height by 2.5 inches
The tray is screwed into the bottom of the desk by 8 screws in 4 corners. Reducing the tray height by 2.5 inches would save me from having to buy a new desk and chair.
I was originally considering spending ~100 on a power drill and reciprocating saw to cut some spare 6/10" wood into four strips per side and then drilling 8 long screws through the four layers and into the desk to effectively lower the height by 2.5 inches.
But I feel there may be a simpler way.
The wood thickness of the desk is only 6/10" so my 2nd idea of just using really long screws and leaving most of it exposed seems like it would eventually wear out the holes because they can't drill in very deep
