Protective/glossy coating needed for matte hand scraped style engineered hardwood floor.

We have this builder provided 1/2 maple flooring which is dark gunstock to espresso in colour. It has a few distressed details and the hand scraped dishing. We are unhappy with the matte finish because our kids, dogs, and even we ourselves leave smudgy foot prints all over. I've never had a floor like this, they've always been more glossy and didn't show as much filth.

Is there a coating I can apply to our home floor that will provide a durable finish and help with the cleaning? I don't mind reapplying it if I have to, maybe every 6 months to a year.
